Moving a Swing Set or Playset: What You Need to Know

At Adventure World Play Sets, we build playsets that can last for generations, providing outdoor fun for kids and grandkids. Since our deluxe playsets withstand the test of time and look as good as new after decades of use, this can often leave parents wondering what to do during a move. While high-quality sets add value to your home, many parents (and most importantly, their kids!) want to bring their set with them! That’s why we’re highlighting important information about moving a swing set or playset.

Building the highest quality vinyl playsets for kids has always been our mission — and we love seeing that families get so attached to their sets that they want to bring them along when they move. However, it can be much more difficult to handle on your own than you think. Keep reading to learn more about moving a swing set from Adventure World Play Sets!

swing set relocation

Key Swing Set Relocation Information

Swing set relocation can be a difficult process since it requires disassembling, transporting, and reassembling the set. Plus, you want to ensure the set stays in perfect condition throughout the entire process. We can only provide qualified information on our sets and our products and what we have seen homeowners do in the past. These are some key things to keep in mind:

Set Size Determines a Lot

The ease of, and success with, swing set relocation largely depends on the size of your set. If your set is somewhat simple in design and has fewer add-ons, you will be more likely able to handle it on your own. For example, if you have a simpler set with 3 swings on a single beam and a tower with attachments, you’ll find it easier to relocate. However, if you have a huge swing set in your yard, it might be too big to move.

Some Handyman Experience is Best

Before undertaking swing set relocation, it is good if you have some experience working on home improvement projects. Moving a swing set does require taking apart and breaking down the largest sections piece-by-piece. While it is not overly complicated, it can be overwhelming — especially if you have never done work like this before. However, if you have a track record of doing other DIY projects, you should be in the clear.

Don’t Go at It Alone

Even if you have a resume of successful backyard projects, you’ll likely need a skilled friend or two to make the process go faster. Plus, some of the heavy lifting definitely mandates an extra set of hands. Moving a playset can be a great opportunity for upgrading, too! Learn more about upgrading to a big kid swing set.

You’ll Need a Truck or Trailer

Once you have the swing set broken down, you’ll still need to actually move it. Since the broken-down components themselves can be fairly large and heavy, you’ll want to make sure you have access to a large truck or trailer. After all, the swing set installer needed a truck to deliver it in the first place!

Ask for Help from Your Dealer

At Adventure World Play Sets, we make all of our pieces available across the country thanks to our dedicated dealer network. Your local dealer that handled the installation of your set may be the perfect person to ask for assistance in moving it. Some of our dealers perform this service when they are able to, while others may not.

Building a Brand-New Set

If you’ve decided that moving a playset or swing set is a little much for you to handle in the middle of a move, that’s quite alright. This can be a good time to upgrade to a new set for your kids. Oftentimes, parents will opt to upgrade to one of our deluxe heavy-duty playsets when they are moving into their new home.

So, if you have a cheaper, non-Adventure World set that looks like it’s seen better days, this might be a good opportunity to skip the swing set relocation and upgrade instead. Our playsets are built to be extremely safe while providing TONS of exciting and imaginative ways for kids to play!

We have been trying to purchase one of these play sets for months and none of the dealers in our area will call us back about purchasing one. I wish the purchasing process was easier than "find a vendor in your local area". No one here wants to build them! The Happy Hideout looks like an amazing product for my toddler to grow into. I'm sad no one will build them or call us back.Edit: The company contacted me personally and found a vendor in my area!

Loved the 3D version of the playset. It came way before expected to take to ship. The colors are brights and vibrant. Everything is super sturdy and well constructed. My child is super excited and will be very happy for many years to come.
